5 Reasons to Establish a Peaceful SharePoint Workplace

Workplace conflict is nothing new, but like other workday features, it continues to evolve alongside technology and prevailing businesses standards.  SharePoint environments are centered around results-based collaboration. When collaboration is optimized under peaceful conditions, diverse staffers interact with mutual respect and understanding.  There are many reasons to foster a peaceful work environment, including the positive results generated by work settings free of excessive controversy.

A smooth workflow relies on the input of diverse team members, so differences of opinion natural arise on the job.  The key to moving beyond discord is an organization’s ability to resolve conflict in positive ways, turning tension into valuable takeaways.  Stimulating tolerance between coworkers and creating a culture of mutual respect are ambitious undertakings, but successful SharePoint environments thrive when managers understand the importance of workplace harmony.  Suffice to say; there are countless incentives for promoting a spirit of unity and shared-purpose on the job, including these reasons why it’s important to create a peaceful workplace:


In most industries, success requires high-levels of collaboration between individuals working in highly-specialized niches.  To bring each piece of a business project together into a cohesive effort, employees from diverse backgrounds and disciplines must find common ground.  Harmonious environments foster a spirit of unity, in which each player feels valued and respected.  When contributors are divided by their differences, however, projects do not unfold with the same level of focus and efficiency as those conceived in agreeable environments.

Workplace harmony stimulates high levels of productivity, which is the bottom line for most employers.  When employee discord gets in the way of profitability, accountability quickly follows, so meeting productivity expectations is job one for managers.  Cooperation and enthusiasm are at the heart of productivity, so facilitating peaceful work interactions helps employees meet their marks.

Job Satisfaction and Lower Turnover

Efficient work environments rely on the experience of long-term employees to provide stability and training consistency throughout the organization.  To their detriment, companies with hostile work settings do not retain the best and brightest talent, because turnover is high when work conditions are challenging.  High levels of job satisfaction impact productivity and long-term growth, so maintaining a happy workforce is a key to success.


Creativity and on the job innovation are diminished when employees feel threatened, intimidated, or otherwise uncomfortable with their surroundings.  Facilitating innovative advancements depends on low-stress settings where creativity and forward thinking are not thwarted by conflict and negative distractions.  High levels of collaboration bring divergent viewpoints together to push the envelope of conventional thinking, so innovation requires a certain level of contrary beliefs, in order to emerge.  The key for successfully moving forward is found in effective conflict resolution that keeps ideas alive, despite disagreements.

Workplace Harmony Sustains Itself

Unhealthy work arrangements emerge when some employees feel as though they are working harder than others.  Unfortunately, the same notion applies to hostility in the workplace.  When everyone does their part; peaceful environments prevail.  On the other hand, when some employees do not carry their share of workplace harmony, conditions quickly deteriorate.  Successful managers display positive, team-oriented qualities, encouraging members of their staff to emulate similar traits on the job.  Communication and forgiveness are essential features of sustained peace in the workplace, enabling workers to see beyond their differences, for the collective good.

Productivity and innovation peak within tolerant and peaceful work environments.  And harmony sustains itself when job satisfaction is high among workers.  Creating a peaceful SharePoint environment increases the quality of work too, so successful managers place it high on their to-do lists.
